Following on from the decision to withdraw the Embraer E170 fleet Virgin Australia
announced a ten year deal with SkyWest Airlines of Perth for the latter to operate
ATR72s on behalf of Virgin Australia on services from Brisbane and on the Sydney
- Canberra route.
The first 68 seat aircraft entered service on . The fleet currently operate on the
Sydney - Canberra, Sydney - Port Macquarie Brisbane - Emerald, Brisbane - Gladstone,
Brisbane - Rockhampton, Brisbane - Port Macquarie. Aircraft are rotation around the
network via the Sydney - Port Macquarie and Brisbane - Port Macquarie routes.
