28th July 2011 - VH-YIA on delivery.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-YIA has commenced its delivery flight as DJ9082 routing from Boeing Field - Honolulu as DJ9082. The flight will continue Honolulu - Nadi - Christchurch.

28th July 2011 - ATR Services announced.

Virgin Australia has announced that ATR-72 services will commence in partnership with Skywest on the Brisbane - Gladstone (2 x daily) and Brisbane - Port Macquarrie (1 x daily) routes from  October 2011. Further deliveries will be used to bolster services on the Sydney - Canberra route.







27th July 2011 - VH-ZPR appears in new livery.

Embraer E190 VH-ZPR emerged in Virgin Australia livery this morning in Sydney and re-entered traffic.

25th July 2011 - VH-YFE positions for repainting.

All white Boeing 737-81D VH-YFE positioned Melbourne - Christchurch today as DJ9070 and is expected to emerge shortly in Virgin Australia livery.

23rd July 2011 - Cancellations and Positioning flights.

The following flights were cancelled today:

DJ553 Sydney - Perth

DJ841 Melbourne - Sydney

DJ846 Sydney - Melbourne

Meanwhile A330-200 VH-XFB operated Sydney - Perth as DJ9553.






















The alliance enables passengers to fly on either DJ or NZ flight numbers from any point on the Virgin Australia network in Australia to any point on the Air New Zealand mainline network in New Zealand on a single ticket.


Passengers may only fly on DJ flight numbers within New Zealand when booked in conjunction with trans-Tasman travel.

7th July 2011 - Boeing 737-800 VH-YIA rolled out.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-YIA has been rolled out onto the flight line at Renton. The aircraft is currently unpainted.

6th July 2011 - Boeing 737-800 VH-YVA enters service.

Boeing 737-800 VH-YVA entered service today operating DJ725 Melbourne - Coolangatta/Gold Coast.

5th July 2011 - Boeing 737-800 VH-YVA positions for service entry.

Boeing 737-800 VH-YVA positioned Brisbane - Melbourne as DJ9064 and is expected to enter service tomorrow.


22nd July 2011 - Perth  fog cancellations.

Due to fog in Perth the following flights were cancelled today:

DJ572 Perth - Sydney.

DJ1486 Broome - Perth

DJ1843 Perth - Port Hedland.

DJ1846 Port Hedland - Perth.

19th July 2011 - ZK-ZPR enters hangar.

All white Embraer E190 ZK-ZPR has entered the hangars at Melbourne and may become the first E190 to appear in Virgin Australia livery.

11th July 2011 - VH-YIA First Test Flight.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-YIA made its first flight today routing from Renton to Boeing Field.


8th July 2011 - Tasman Alliance begins.

Virgin Australia’s alliance with Air New Zealand on services across the Tasman commenced today. Virgin Australia flight codes are placed on all Air New Zealand trans-Tasman services and flights within New Zealand from:


Auckland - Christchurch

Auckland - Dunedin

Auckland - Napier

Auckland - Nelson

Auckland - New Plymouth

Auckland - Palmerston North

Auckland - Queenstown

Auckland - Wellington

Christchurch - Dunedin
