Boeing 737-8FE VH-YFK made its first flight today from Renton to Boeing Field as BOE808.

31st October 2011 - VH-VUE Brisbane Test Flight.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-VUE undertook a Brisbane - Brisbane test flight this evening as DJ9062 circling several times off the coast near Caloundra at 12,000ft before returning to Brisbane.

31st October 2011 - V Australia 777 to Operate Sydney - Melbourne.

A V Australia Boeing 777-300ER will operate a special Sydney - Melbourne flight tomorrow as DJ9502 departing Sydney at 1030 and arriving in Melbourne at 1200.

30th October 2011 - Virgin Australia Explores Options.

Virgin Australia is understood to be examining the following options to increase capacity in light of the QANTAS shutdown on top of increasing services with its own fleet.

Using Etihad to operate Virgin Australia Sydney - Abu Dhabi services in order to free a V Australia Boeing 777-300ER to operate extra Los Angeles services.

Using Etihad aircraft on layover in Australia to operate Melbourne - Sydney shuttle flights.

Using Air New Zealand to operate Pacific Blue trans-Tasman flights in order to release Pacific Blue aircraft to operate Domestic Australian services.

Using Singapore Airlines aircraft on key Domestic routes.

Boeing 737-8FE ZK-PBA operating DJ154 Nadi - Sydney diverted via Brisbane today.

30th October 2011 - SkyWest Fokker 100 VH-FNT Operates Mainline Routes.

SkyWest Airlines Fokker 100 VH-FNT operates the following flights today:

DJ5002 Perth - Adelaide

DJ5004 Adelaide - Melbourne

29th October 2011 - VH-ZPQ in New Livery.

Embraer E190 VH-ZPQ departed Melbourne today as DJ1316 Melbourne - Hobart wearing Virgin Australia livery. The aircraft was repainted at Melbourne after operating DJ1337 from Hobart on 23 October.

29th October 2011 - VH-FVL Ferries to Canberra.

SkyWest Airlines ATR-72 VH-FVL ferried into Canberra today in order to commence services on behalf of Virgin Australia.

VH-FVL, the third Skywest ATR72 to be operated on services on behalf of Virgin Australia arrived in Perth today.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-VUY positioned Christchurch - Melbourne today in Virgin Australia livery (formerly AFL Decals) and with 8J/168Y seating.

15th October 2011 - VH-VOS Back in Traffic with Business Class.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-VOS re-entered traffic today as DJ211 Melbourne - Adelaide newly configured in 8J/168Y configuration.

14th October 2011 - VH-YFH on Delivery.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-YFH was accepted today and departed Boeing Field on delivery as DJ9082 routing Boeing Field - Lihue - Nadi - Christchurch.

14th October 2011 - Bali Flight Delayed as First Officer Injured.

DJ4197 Brisbane - Denpasar operated by Boeing 737-8BK VH-VUM was delayed by 90 minutes today after an incident in which the First Officer sustained a fractured arm and leg. The First Officer was conducting pre-flight checks and was on a set of aluminium steps at the rear door. The steps were blown over by jet blast from taxiing QANTAS Boeing 747-438ER VH-OEH departing the terminal as QF8 to Sydney. The incident has been referred to the ATSB.

14th October 2011 - Western Australia Increases.

Virgin Australia will increase service on the Perth - Port Hedland route from 22 November 2011 from 14 to 17 flights weekly DJ1839/DJ1842 now operating extra rotations on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Service will also increase on the Perth - Karratha route from 23 November 2011 with services increasing from 12 to 14 flights weekly with a new DJ1725/DJ1726 rotation to be operate d by Embraer E190s on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

8th October 2011 - VH-VPH VA12 Sydney Diversion.

Boeing 777-3ZGER VH-VPH operating VA12 Los Angeles - Melbourne (depart Los Angeles 6 October) diverted to Sydney this morning. The aircraft continued to Melbourne as VA9064.

2nd October 2011 - VH-VUX Back in Traffic with Business Class.

Boeing 737-8KG VH-VUX re-entered traffic today as DJ675 Melbourne - Perth newly configured in 8J/168Y configuration.

3rd October 2011 - SkyWest ATR72s to commence Brisbane - Emerald.

Virgin Australia is to commence service on the Brisbane - Emerald route from January 16 2012 with flights operated by SkyWest ATR72s.

29th October 2011 - Virgin Australia offers Special Fares for Stranded QANTAS Passangers.

Virgin Australia have put the following offer in place for passengers stranded by the QANTAS grounding:

If you are currently stranded at a port away from home and you hold a Qantas ticket to return home within the next 5 days, you may be eligible for a “Stranded Passenger” recovery fare with Virgin Australia or Pacific Blue.

Stranded Passenger recovery fares are offered at a 20 per cent discount level off available Saver fares on Virgin Australia and Pacific Blue flights, for travel through to next Thursday 3 November 2011. Please note that these fares may not be available on all flights….

….You will first be asked to provide details of your existing Qantas ticket (including reservation number,travel date and flight number),and will then be able to purchase our discounted fares. If a Stranded Passenger recovery fare is not available for your preferred flight, you may still be able to purchase a Flexi or Premium fare.”

Boeing 737-8FE VH-YVC made its first flight today from Renton to Boeing Field.

26th October 2011 - Hawaiian Airlines Codeshares to Commence.

From 2 November Virgin Australia’s VA code will appear on all Hawaiian Airlines flights between Sydney and Honolulu as well as inter-island flights from Honolulu to Kahului, Kona and Lihue.

23rd October 2011 - VH-VUZ loses Gold Coast Suns Decals.

Boeing 737-8FE VH-VUZ has lost its Gold Coast Suns titles and is operating in plain white livery.
